THIEN HA,
CELESTIAL RIVER, Eight Exercises

Bordeaux, France
Sunday morning 01 November 2009, 10:50 am
(updated 01 October 2016)

Dear All,
In about one hour I will leave Bordeaux, taking a TGV for Paris. In France, this morning is the morning of Tousaint, and in North America this is the day of  Halloween.

Last week-end, in Pisa, we have learned the form THIEN-HA, and you learned it so well. You will discover many interesting aspects of this special ‘quyen’ (choreographed movements). This beautiful form is rich in techniques and deep in meaning.

THIEN-HA is its poetic name that means Celestial River. THIEN-HA also has a descriptive name, Tuyen-Khac, which indicates the nature of this form: opposing force.

THIEN HA, Celestial River, remind us the Milky Way. Looking up to the sky sometimes we ask the question  “How these billions stars and planets can stay stable while in fact they continuously move around at each second of our time?” One of the answers THIEN HA could suggest is: Because each one has an opposing force to others! Without the opposing force inherent in each element the order for the whole could be hardly maintained. It is also true to our body, our family, and our society. Therefore the art of good health is managing opposing forces inside of our body in such a way that contributes to the growth of the whole. The art of living a good life in society could follow the same way: allowing the others to express their opposite opinion and following the natural course of things.
Did we do it enough in our day to day relationship with our family members, our pupils, our neighbors, our colleagues?

In term of inner energy, THIEN HA develops opposing forces through meridians and vital energy points. Please refer to the book TINH MAT to learn about meridians and vital points. With regular practice you will discover many interesting points through the THIEN HA.
Each time someone upsets you by their opinion, their behavior, you don’t need to respond. Just go to a quiet place and practice THIEN HA, it takes you just a few minutes but it could save you hours of frustration!

The form THIEN HA consists of eight parts, each part could be considered as an independent exercise by itself. There is an opening Posture named Cao-Phong, Dignity, common to all exercises. They are as follows:

0. Starting Posture: Cao-Phong, Dignity
1. EXERCISE ONE: LEN DUONG, Taking the Path
2. EXERCISE TWO: VE NGUON, Returning to Sources
3. EXERCISE THREE: NOI-KINH, Training Inner Forces
4. EXERCISE FOUR:  ANH DUONG, Rising Sun
5. EXERCISE FIVE: MAY XA, Infinite Clouds
6. EXERCISE SIX: NGAN HA , Milky Way
7. EXERCISE SEVEN: DOI LUC, Opposing Forces
8. EXERCISE EIGHT: THAN PHONG, Hurricane

Best wishes to all.
